JOB PROFILE OF ASSISTANT ENFORCEMENT OFFICER





ASSISTANT ENFORCEMENT OFFICER post is a GROUP B post in Enforcement Directorate. This department acts as a key factor to fight Economic crimes in India covered under


1. Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA) and

2. Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA).


Enforcement Directorate is engaged in controlling and checking money laundering activities in the country. The one who will qualify for this post will be appointed as GROUP B OFFICER in ENFORCEMENT DIRECTORATE.

It is a desk posting job where one deals with files or clerical work related to the matters concerned such as making reports brochures, presentations, etc. At times, Assistant Enforcement Officer may be asked to be a part of any team raids conducted under FEMA OR PMLA. Survey has to be conducted about money laundering or any other crime related to finance and economy related.


Although, the work of an Assistant Enforcement Officer (AEO) is safe yet it needs lot of awareness and presence of mind. It involves secret work at times which needs to be handled carefully so that the information is not given to the wrong source or leaked anyhow. The location for the post after the selection is generally at urban city as most of the office of the Directorate is situated at big cities. The Zonal Offices are located at Ahmadabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Kochi, Delhi, Panaji, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Srinagar. The Zonal Offices are supervised and controlled by Joint Directors of Enforcement department.


The Sub-Zonal Offices are located at Bhubaneshwar, Kochi, Vishakapatnam, Kozhikode, Indore, Madurai, Nagpur, Allahabad, Raipur, Dehradun, Ranchi, Surat, Shimla and Jammu. These offices are supervised and controlled by Deputy Directors of Enforcement Department.


Therefore, it is clear that the offices are situated at big cities and therefore there is no fear of getting posted in any rural area.

The career growth will have the following sequence:

1. Enforcement Officer (Group B Gazetted post in 4-6 years)

2. The Assistant Director of Enforcement Directorate

3. Deputy Director of Enforcement Directorate

4. Joint Director

5. Additional Director

6. Special Director in Enforcement Directorate


Work Timings


The Assistant Enforcement Officers are assigned normal working office timing. Besides normal working timing, on raid or search, the officer may have to work for longer or even at uncertain duration.


Transfers

There are few possibilities of transfers as there are only limited numbers of offices which are situated in national sand state capitals. Therefore, there are no chances of getting a transfer to remote areas. After getting a transfer, the officer will be posted at the assigned location for 3 years. It implies that the officer will remain posted at the assigned place for at least 3 years without any transfers.
