COMMON MISTAKES TO BE AVOIDED WHILE PREPARING FOR PTE EXAM


PTE EXAM comprises of three sections Speaking and Writing, Reading and Listening which are further segregated with various tasks with a time limit. Many a times it is observed that candidates study hard for the PTE EXAM yet they are not able to score high due to some mistakes they commit. Some of the common mistakes that they do can be discussed so that when you appear in PTE EXAM you can avoid them to score high.

10. Do maintain continuity in your answer and avoid using too many types of filler like “uhhh”, “ummm” etc.


11. While completing answer, students should wait until the status box shows “completed”. The answer will not get recorded if you click on the next option before the status shows “completed”.


12. While writing a response, the students should properly check spellings, grammar and punctuation errors. There should be unity of ideas in presenting your response.


13. In a given task, all the questions as well as sub-questions should be properly addressed and answered.


14. While writing a response, vocabulary and linguistic range plays very important role because vocabulary skills helps in developing comprehension skills and these skills helps in evolving the ability to understand sentences easily.


15. Likewise, good grammatical skills should be developed to correct errors in areas like articles, prepositions, singular and plural and sentence structures. The correct punctuation will add to your scores. The sentence should always start with a capital letter and ends with a full stop.


16. The method of paraphrasing should be optimally adopted. The repetition of words and ideas should be avoided and synonyms should be used, where they are required.


17. The word limit should be noted for all the tasks in the writing section. In Summarize Written Text, the task should be answered in a single sentence while the word limit of essay should be within 200 to 300 words.


18. In essay writing, the ideas should be segregated into proper paragraphs. It will give suitable meaning to the essay.


19. The students should be familiar with the method of skimming and scanning. In Reading and Listening sections, these methods should be implemented to save time and efforts. The method of elimination should be used to discard unwanted and unimportant information to attain the accurate answer.
